A subset of our SECAR® range of binders and additives, REFPAC is a fluidifier for silica fume-containing castables. As a multicomponent active compound, it is designed for use in conjunction with calcium-aluminate binders in refractory applications.

Its latest generation, REFPAC 100 fluidifying agent, was specifically developed for low to medium cement products containing 2-10% silica fume. Its characteristics are ideally suited for refractory applications where reliable performance is required across a range of refractory aggregates and where inherent raw material variations cause issues with traditional additive systems. It ensures optimal installation characteristics and maximizes castable performance in situ. It has been tested in model castable systems up to 1500°C, never showing any detrimental effects to castable performance or alteration of the castable system’s fired physical properties  when compared to standard additive systems.

REFPAC 100 fluidifying agent is used in place of the normal additive package used for dispersing silica fume based castables and is compatible with all standard accelerator and retarders used for refractory applications. Its use is recommended for medium and low cement applications and when matched with the correct rheologically optimized size distributions are suitable for vibration, self-flowing and pumping grade materials. We recommend laboratory trials prior to any industrial use. The recommended dosage is 1.0% by weight of castable. We recommend replacing all other dispersants and additives as well as a balance of 1% of the matrix.
